Coffee Bean Extract - Does it Really Work?
A recent episode of Dr. Oz featured Lindsey Duncan, ND, CN speaking on the benefits of green coffee bean extract. Within minutes the Internet was buzzing with millions of people asking where they could find this amazing product.
Lindsay is an alternative health specialist and celebrity nutritionist with more than 28 years of clinical experience. He normally takes the high road and recommends that the best road to get rid of excess pounds is to eat a healthy, nutritious, well-balanced diet and start an exercise program
But recent research on the benefits of green coffee bean extract has left him singing a different tune. For the first time he and Dr. Oz both are endorsing a dietary supplement to help increase the number of pounds lost without changing your regular routine.
With only 20 mg of caffeine per serving, compared to a minimum of 100 mg for a good cup of coffee, green coffee bean extract doesn't work by making you nervous and jittery, like roasted coffee or other caffeine based diet aids. Rather, the active ingredient, chlorogenic acid, works to inhibit the release of glucose in the body and increases the metabolic process in the liver.
Can you get the same effect from drinking a cup of coffee? No, because roasting the coffee beans actually removes the chlorogenic acid. So green coffee bean extract must be processed before the beans are roasted, while they're still in their raw state.
About Hygeia
HYGEIA was the goddess of good health. In classical sculpture she was represented as a woman holding a
large serpent in her arms. In Greek and Roman mythology, Hygeia was a daughter of the god of medicine. She was the goddess/personification of health, cleanliness and sanitation. She also played an important
part in her father's cult. While her father was more directly associated with healing, she was associated with the prevention of sickness and the continuation of good health. More broadly, she ruled over
matters of clean-living, washing, eating well, looking after yourself; actually of having a preventative attitude toward disease, and preventing the onset of illness in the first place rather than trying to cure.
Her name is the source of the word "hygiene".
